About Us
Centre for Excellence strictly focuses on youth development. Our goal is to help young players understand the game, have great field awareness, learn to read the game, be technical, and most improtantly, be smart exciting players. In 2005, a group of highly experienced and professional coaches came together and formed CENTRE FOR EXCELLENCE in an effort to tailor it to the highly effective and well known European system of youth/player development. These coaches had one goal in mind, and that is to effcetively develop youth athletes/soccer players the right way, through education and proven effective systems for proper development. In the current system, most of the players, coaches inherit on their teams at the older age group lack some of the most basic and importatant skills and abilities as a soccer player. Because of that, on average, you can see on any given team that the skill level varies drammatically between players, and that shouldn't be the case. It is very difficult to coach a team or have a successful program when one player can juggle 5 times whiles another can juggle 100 times on a U-15 team. Purely and simply, there shouldn't be such a drastic difference between the skill level. Since it's inception, the organization is fast developing a reputation as an elite organization for youth development, team training/coaching. Our formula has turned teams around, made them successful, and improved players within a short period of time. A big part of our success with youth development has to do with our approach, which focuses on EDUCATION, and ability to get the best out of each kid by getting them to understand the game (Thinking), simplifying the complex, and getting down to basics, as well as building their confidence. Our training approach is strictly scenario and situational based. We educate the players, coaches, and teams the right way of playing at a very young age, and not take any short cuts in order to avoid having the players unlearn skills when they get older. We are a small organization, and like to keep it that way. We maintain a very small, highly experienced and effective, professional staff and we only add the best to our staff.
We like to focus on PERSONAL/TEAM PERFORMANCE instead of PERSONAL/TEAM ACHIEVEMENT.
For us at Centre for Excellence, the difference between PERSONAL/TEAM PERFORMANCE AND PERSOANL/TEAM ACHIEVEMENT is as simple as the following example. Two players train all summer to stay in shape, and also because the whole team has to do a 2 mile run in 12 minutes (cooper test) before the season starts. They both train differently, and player A trained only for that one moment, and goes out and runs the 2 mile in 11minutes 30seconds. But that is the only time player A will be able to run 2-miles in under 12 minutes. Player A wasn’t able to run the 2-mile in under 12 minutes the rest of the season. Player B ran the 2-mile in 11:58, and through out the season, was consistently running the two mile between 11:55 and 11:59 (Personal Performance). Player A’s focus during the summer, was to be able to run the 2-mile in under 12-minutes on the day of the test (Personal Achievement). Pure and simple, our training methods are based on getting the individual players and teams to be able to perform day in and day out consistently and at a highest level of their ability.
0ur Vision: To develop SMART and TECHNICALLY sound soccer players.
Our Mission: To train and develop young players by educating, teaching, and helping them with the right combination of skills, technique, application, and understanding of the game. Most importantly, make sure the player loves the game of soccer because if the player doesn’t love the game, he or she will not be motivated to learn the game and train to get better. We realize that, even with team training and coaching, if we can get each of the individual players on the team to be better, and get better/improve, the team as a whole will be successful. Any player under the age of 13 shouldn’t have to worry too much about tactics, but rather improvement.
Our Belief: Personal Performance. We believe that practice makes permanent, and not perfect. The players who end up being the best are those who love the game, work hard, and make themselves students of the game. With the right combination of skills, training, and headway, a player will improve quicker and easier. When players see good progress in their ability, they will want to work harder, and get better.
Our Formula: If practice makes permanent, and permanent equals consistency, then consistency + practice equal success.
